Behind The Screen: BountyJobs Animation

By Kuswanto @ 20.06.08 · Tags: , ,

Several months ago we were contacted again by BountyJobs, this time we were assigned to work on animation for their marketing tools.

We have been working for BountyJobs from the start, it was started with mascot and icon design.

The animation process was relatively straightforward. We only have two animators and one illustrator to work on the sketching, inking and coloring the needed animation materials. And all the process must be done in 7 days, to meat the deadline we have to work on weekend.

The illustrator is Archie, she is the one who created BountyJobs mascot, she is one of the staff at Petshopbox Studio our studio that handled illustration project. All the rough sketches was done in one day, and then we sent it to BountyJobs for approval.

After the rough sketches we started the inking process. Because the ink is also handled by Archie, there is no need to refine the sketch quality. The inking process is using analog media, we use Snowman Drawing Pen. It’s cheap and made fine lines.

We did not send the inking result, instead we straight to coloring process with Adobe Illustrator.

We have our basic color palette of BountyJobs from our previous project. It makes the coloring process relatively fast and easy, since we able to reuse color selections. The most challenging in the coloring process was the town. We got several revision to fix a lot background areas and only some on the characters.

Coloring was done in about 3 days. We send the coloring result to BountyJobs, after all colored illustration has been approved, it’s the animator turn to take the static illustration into Flash animation.

Our two animator done an excellent work on slicing the static illustration into animated graphic symbol. The animation was led by Deny, and Habli was as second animator.

The animation process took only 3 days. One of the hardest part of the animation was the horse movement. But we can surpass all the roadblock, and meet our deadline.

The final result of the animation are on BountyJobs homepage. Click the demo on Employers and Headhunters version.
