Google change their fav icon

Everyone know Google as the most famous search engines, or multi billion corporation. Internet surfer also recognize Google by its small fav icon that sit on the left of Google URL.

Not long ago, Google has changed their fav icon into lower case blue “g”. Not all Google domain is using new “g”, if yours still using old “G” try to clear your browser cache.

New Google Fav Icon

I am not sure why are they change their Fav icon into lower case “g”. Since the old icon is recognizable due to its age.

New Google Fav Icon

The new letter “g” is not strong enough as the old “G” with its unique colored square border. The new letter “g” is like a n unmaintained social bookmarking fav icon. Not too mention the image is kind of blurry.

  2. Search Engine Land has an official position from Google:
“We recognized there was a need for a Google icon that would better work across multiple applications including web, mobile and client applications. We felt the small ‘g’ had many of the characteristics that best represent our brand: it’s simple, playful, and unique. We will be looking to improve and enhance this icon as we move forward.“
