Are you one of kind of people who constantly changing the application icons? Well, I am on of the kind. I like to change application icons that are installed on my Mac. The replacement icons can be found in customization forums, blogs, sites or at DeviantArt. Those icons are scattered all over the places, looking for a cool firefox icons I have to fiddling into many pages and searches. So, I have this idea to make a repository site for all replacement icons, sounds a big project, right? Turned out it was pretty simple and straight forward. And then born, SubIcons. Started on mid February.
I was going to make the site using custom CMS or modified Drupal with some help from Stucel, Felix is my great friend. But, other bigger projects is makes us busy. So I decided to make the site with Wordpress. The theme itself is a modification of CSSGallery theme. The modifications only took two days, from mockup designs to Wordpress template.
The only problem is the distribution policy of the icons. A lot of icon artist forbidden to redistribute their icons pack outside their websites. I have to linked the download link to their page. This is a double edge sword situation, on a side – I cut server bandwidth, on the other side – my visitor have to download the whole package.
Go to SubIcons to download your replacement icons. The icon collections is quite small, I am still adding icons by icons to the site.
I am really appreciated if you spread out SubIcons to everyone.
Awesome! I thought I was the only one with the knacks to change icons :D great job as usual ncus!
